Dorothée Zippel-Mariano wurde 1944 in Stuttgart geboren. 1957- 62 Ballettschülerin und Elèvin der Compagnie von Nikolas Beriozoff am Staatstheater Stuttgart. 1962-66 Aufenthalt in London, veranlasst von John Cranko: Aktzeichnen an der Kunstschule High Wycombe, Diplomabschluss in Malerei und Bühnenbild an der Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. In dieser Zeit entsteht für John Cranko das Bühnenbild „Jeu de cartes“. Weitere Bühnenbilder folgen. 1969 für ein Jahr Darstellerin im Musical „Hair“. Seit 1980 als freie Malerin tätig. Anfang der 80er Ausstellung ihrer Bilder im Theaterhaus Wangen, wo sie 1986 den Altsaxophonisten Charlie Mariano kennenlernt, Heirat 1988, seit 1990 Wohnsitz in Köln. Gemeinsame Reisen in die USA und nach Indien. Die Auswahl der hier gezeigten Bilder entstand in den Jahren seit 2015.
